Better brokerage connections: Plaid integration

We understand that a stable brokerage connection is one of the most valuable features when it works well, and it can be frustrating when it doesn't.

At Snowball, we're constantly working to improve the stability of brokerage connections by working closely with our aggregators and adding new ones, which we believe will better serve some brokerages. We monitor connections and handpick the best aggregator for your selected brokerage.

Last year, we introduced Snaptrade (in addition to Yodlee), which is now the default provider for Fidelity, Schwab, Robinhood, Questrade, Wealthsimple, and others.

Today, we're excited to introduce a new aggregator: Plaid. It supports most major North American institutions.

If you previously had problems with your brokerage connection, we encourage you to try connecting via Plaid. If your current subscription or trial has expired, please let us know at help@snowball-analytics.com. Our team will extend your trial for free so you can try it out.

Protect your account with two-factor authentication

At Snowball, we believe the security of your investment data is important. To help you protect your account, Snowball now supports an additional layer of security called two-factor authentication (2FA).

If you're using external login (via Google/Apple) you need to enable 2FA there.

How it works?

2FA requires an Authentication app installed on your mobile phone, we recommend using either Google Authenticator (iOS or Android), Duo Mobile, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator, but other apps may also work.

Once enabled, you will be required to enter your Authentication Code in addition to the account password when logging in. If the device with the Authentication app is ever lost, you will need to use one of the recovery codes provided during the 2FA setup process (important to save these somewhere safe) or else you will lose access to the account.

How to enable 2FA?

  1. Go to My account -> Security tab.
  2. Press "Enable 2FA" button and follow the instructions.

What's else?

  • Analytics → Growth → Holdings performance: Now you can click on the chart to open the company's page.
  • Portfolio → Holdings table: now you can sort holdings by Category.
  • Company page: now you can click on ticker/ISIN to copy it to clipboard.

  • In-house integration with Interactive Brokers.
  • New dividend data provider. Having good dividend data quality for global markets is challenging, but we believe we can do it :) We're constantly looking for alternative data provider to ensure you have the most accurate forecasts.
  • 📱 Mobile app: Top dividend stocks, Dynamic of portfolio returns chart, Monthly calendar view for dividend calendar.
  • Table view for charts: We're adding detailed table views for Dynamics of portfolio returns and Holdings performance charts.
